Mārīcī Heart Mantra

Mārīcī Heart Mantra

The “Mārīcī Heart Mantra” mainly comes from Buddhist scriptures such as the Sutra Spoken by the Buddha on Mārīcī and the Sutra Spoken by the Buddha on the Dhāraṇī of the Bodhisattva Mārīcī, translated by eminent monks including the Tang-dynasty master Amoghavajra at imperial command. This mantra can help practitioners eliminate calamities and obstacles, and keep away danger and malicious people.

Core Benefits:
  • Invisibility and Protection: This is the most supreme merit. It can keep practitioners from being spied on or plotted against by malicious people and enemies; no one can see them, no one can catch them, and they will not be deceived by others.
  • Recovering Debts: The scripture specifically mentions “not being made to owe others their property.” Practicing this mantra can prevent money from being withheld or falling victim to fraud, and can cause debtors to feel remorse and return what they owe on their own.
  • Quick Victory in Battle: Mārīcī is revered as a war deity in Esoteric Buddhism and in Japanese samurai tradition. It can help one stand out in lawful business competition, examinations, and contests.
  • Averting Disasters: It can pacify various worldly calamities such as “calamities of the ruler (lawsuits and litigation), calamities of thieves (robbery and theft), calamities of travel (dangers and obstacles in transportation and long-distance travel), calamities of swords and soldiers (war and violence), and natural disasters of earth, water, fire, wind, and heaven.”
  • Accomplishing Affairs: It can clear away invisible obstacles in work or business, calm gossip, disputes, and slander in the workplace, and bring fulfillment to one’s wishes.
  • Manifesting Wisdom: The bodhisattva is an emanation of Mahāvairocana or the Buddha’s light; reciting the mantra can dispel inner ignorance and fear, bringing clarity and stability to the mind.
