Note: General Guan Yu was originally one of the divine generals in Taoist thunder department but was designated as the eighteenth generation Supreme Deity by modern Yiguandao practitioners who now regard him as Yuhuang Dadi (Jade Emperor). Following this designation after 1960s in Taiwan’s Ling Shan sect has led to widespread misconceptions among some followers within that religious community.
