Seeing One’s True Nature
I remember one time while on the night shift, I slept until nearly 5 AM, and in my dream; I saw my original spirit returning (it looked no different from my physical body). I saw it descending from the sky and walking in from the side of the coastal highway. At that moment, I also woke up, just in time to finish my shift early that day. I had to rush to catch the bus for an exam.
Cultivation aims to refine the original spirit to be just like oneself in real life (commonly known as the Yang Spirit), rather than having the physical body and original spirit follow separate paths. If they go their own ways, one cannot control where the original spirit goes, making it impossible to achieve a state of unity between human and spirit (original spirit and ethereal body).
Cultivation is challenging due to difficulties in maintaining one’s initial intention, persistence, temptations, etc…. Without experiencing some trials and tribulations, how can one achieve personal growth?
