What is the happiest thing in the world?
Many people pray for world peace, but I believe that the most important thing about praying for world peace is to start with ourselves.
If each of us truly has compassion and love, then this world will be very beautiful. If each of us continuously loves ourselves, loves our parents, loves everyone, and even loves every living being including cockroaches and ants, then they will live happily.
I see in some places abroad, especially in Western countries, advocating for animal protection. Oh! I am so happy; that’s wonderful! Every creature’s life is equally precious; it’s just that they cannot speak and their appearance is different from humans. Their appearance may be animals like crabs or fish… but their feelings, their pain and joy are the same as ours. When you hit or catch them, they run away desperately because they don’t want to suffer this pain. They run because they dislike it; if they felt happy, then when you hit them, they would come towards you.
Living in this world without harming others is what I believe to be the happiest thing. This also includes not harming animals like ants and all other beings. Buddhism emphasizes caring for all living beings and not harming them. We should treat people and all animals with equality in our hearts and show compassion to bring them happiness.
