What does health preservation mean?
During the day, we expend energy, and at night, we restore it. Daytime is for discharging energy, while nighttime sleep is for recharging.
If only 50% of the energy is recharged at night but 100% needs to be released during the day, where does that extra 50% come from? It has to be borrowed from the organs.
In ancient texts, the five organs are referred to as the “five treasures,” which means they are repositories of the essence of the human body. This essence consists of the nutrients stored in our bodies. If we keep borrowing without replenishing, most people will find their bodies deteriorating after about 15 years. When we are young, we may not feel anything amiss; however, once we reach our forties or fifties, our immune system begins to decline continuously, leading to various illnesses.
Thus, health preservation is about sustaining life. It may not make you look ten years younger immediately; rather, ten years down the line, while everyone around you has aged ten years, you still look like you do today. Health preservation won’t cure your ailments overnight; instead, a decade later when those around you may have passed away or suffered greatly from illness, you still appear as you do now. It won’t make you wealthy instantly; rather, ten years later when those around you are going bankrupt due to medical expenses and borrowing money everywhere, you’ll be living worry-free and at ease.
This is not alarmist rhetoric but a stark reality! Health is the greatest wealth in life; having a fortune cannot compare to possessing a healthy body!
