In the beginning, chaos was unformed. The earth was hazy. Spirits were mixed together.
Humans and beasts were not yet separated.
Compassion spreads like rain from the law. All things begin to be born.
Thus, Yin and Yang are established. The system defines heaven and earth.
Heavenly Sovereign, Earthly Sovereign, Human Sovereign.
Eating raw meat and drinking blood.
Many suffer from diseases and have short lives.
Teach them to take fire for cooked food.
To avoid malaria or premature death.
Yet fierce gods and evil spirits constantly descend.
Disturbing the people, causing unrest and conflict.
Thus refine gold bricks to fill the northern void.
Block the descent of fierce gods from the nine heavens.
How can it be? The human heart is full of perilous evil.
Fighting for power, wealth, and status leads to chaos. Treachery runs rampant, inflicting violence.
The innocent suffer tragically. Compassion for all living beings faces calamity.
Gathering all true beings in the Nine Heavens together with compassion to save all living beings.
All true beings share a heart for salvation. Riding auspicious clouds to observe the vast universe.
Everywhere there are smoke barriers reaching into the sky. Beings create karma as heavy as mountains.
Ethics and morals are completely disregarded. Competing for profit while being ungrateful and forgetting obligations.
Losing conscience, being disloyal and unfilial leads to disasters that linger endlessly.
One must only turn back to seek repentance. Burn incense, repent, and pray to Heaven above.
Descendants of Yan and Huang take virtue as their glory .
Ensnared by six desires , they fall into depravity .
There are morals that must be revived . The Way shines brightly illuminating great harmony .
I descend into this mundane world for salvation . Holding a precious sword to cut down demons and evils .
Loyal officials and righteous heroes encounter misfortunes . I ride auspicious clouds to protect them .
Benevolent rulers and good generals face disasters . I ensure calamities do not come upon them .
I do not protect treacherous ministers or thieves . They cannot escape divine retribution as misfortunes invade them .
As a son , one should be filial towards parents . Not being filial towards parents is a grave sin .
Ancestors pass down teachings from parents onto themselves . Future descendants will follow suit in their actions .
The grace of nurturing is deep as the sea . The sin of rebellion is as great as heaven itself .
When parents are ill , one must personally prepare medicine for them . One should also taste it before offering it to their parents first .
It is inappropriate to undress or leave food unattended. Always serve by their side at every moment.
If you want your future children to be filial , you must first show filial piety towards your own parents first.
Those who are unfilial must repent; they cannot escape being human in this world.
Do not think that good or evil has no retribution; sooner or later it will come upon you in due time.
Advise all living beings: cherish grains; grains are like milk from our primordial mother.
Why scatter them carelessly? This sin is not light; one must know that grains sustain life’s treasures.
Three meals a day cannot be neglected; no matter how much you cultivate elixirs or become immortal Buddhas, you cannot disregard this treasure of grains which cannot be lacking throughout life’s journey.
